Understanding Adolesence

Is your dog going through their ‘teenage years’?

Adolescence marks the change from being a puppy to becoming an adult, which can start any time between 6-12 months and end between 18-24 months. In this talk you’ll learn what to expect from adolescence and how to navigate and enjoy this fun, but potentially challenging stage in your dog’s development!

In the talk, our in-house Behaviourist Winkie will provide you with:

  1. A good understanding of the changes that happen during puberty and adolescence, which are all normal, but can be challenging for the dog, and for you and your family.
  2. Ways to minimise the stress and frustration you and your dog may experience.
  3. Advice on things to do and things to avoid during the adolescent period, including managing socialisation.
  4. More information on the topic of neutering – what to consider, what to expect, timings and options.

Knowledge is power and the more we understand about adolescence in dogs and the better equipped we are with tools to help, the easier it will be for the whole family to deal with, when the time comes!
